It is easy to feel like there aren’t enough people in your local area to support a viable coaching business. Sometimes, it is true!
But out there on the world wide web, there are all kinds of people who would find your services extremely valuable. When you define your ideal client profile, you may find that they live in Boston, and Malaysia, and Buenos Aires.
One cost-effective way to reach them is to use Skype.
Skype is a free voice-over-internet (VOIP) service where you can make calls using your computer and do video chats with your clients. You can also purchase cheap credits to use Skype to call land-line phones.
It has allowed Pam to coach clients in China, and Michele to coach clients in London, all without paying a penny.
If you purchase an inexpensive recording software called ECamm (so far, I think it only works for the Mac, but there may be a PC version), you can also use Skype to record audio or video interviews and post them on your blog or website.
See a sample video interview from Pam’s blog where she interviews Do More Great Work author Michael Bungay Stanier.
Remember, your market does not have to just be your local area, unless you design it that way.
Use tools like Skype to expand your market.
