Speak your way to more clients

One of the best ways you can connect with your people and begin to build a relationship of trust (the foundation of all good marketing) is to do a live presentation.

It doesn’t have to be fancy or perfect, it just needs to provide some useful content to a group of people you would love to serve.

In an earlier tip, we suggested going to Meetup.com to find a group of interest in your area. You can expand this search by asking yourself:
Who are the kinds of people I would love to serve?
Which local associations or organizations do they belong to? (Check Internet Public Library for some ideas)

When do these groups meet, and what is the process for proposing to be a speaker?
Once you narrow down a particular group, you can brainstorm topics by asking yourself:
What problems or challenges do they have?
What drives them crazy?
What are they hungry for?

What tool, framework or system do I know that would solve their problem or at least provide relief?
Then pitch this idea to the organizer with this simple template:
I am …
I noticed your group is interested in …
I would love to do a free talk on …

To discuss further, you can reach me at … (leave both phone and email)
After you deliver your talk, you can offer to send a follow up worksheet, presentation materials or an added bonus via email and suggest people give you their biz cards so you can follow up. You can also send around a sign-up sheet.

Once you give this presentation once, you will have the content available for future talks at different organizations.
